A Champion for All Arizona
Howard Shanker is the son of a decorated WWII veteran, a family man, and a small business owner. Howard, his wife Tamera, their teenage daughters Rachel and Samara, and their 5 year old son Ethan are long-time Arizonans. Together, Howard and Tamera run The Shanker Law Firm with offices in Flagstaff and Tempe.
Howard graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 1989. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Pace University in New York (1984). He began practicing law in Arizona in 1993. Howard is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Arizona, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania (inactive). He is also admitted in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

• Working to Defend Native American Religious and Cultural Beliefs and to Restore the Health of Land and Water
• Howard won a ground-breaking legal decision for the Navajo Nation and three other tribes protecting these magnificent mountains from contamination by reclaimed waste water while ensuring the religious freedom of Arizona’s indigenous tribes.
Protecting Arizona’s Grand Canyon
Howard won a legal ruling that helped preserve the natural beauty and air quality of the Grand Canyon National Park by thwarting construction of an environmentally unsustainable and unsuitable commercial retail development on the southern edge of the Grand Canyon National Park called Canyon Forest Village.Â
Safeguarding a Coconino County Family Subdivision
Howard stopped the federal and state governments from developing and operating a high-powered weapons shooting range right next to a residential subdivision.
Taking back community control
Howard helped citizens of Mobile, Arizona to take back control of their community, averting the development of an unnecessary landfill.
